New York City

---

I think I was in New York City when I lost my fear of drinking whole milk.

I think I was in New York City when I realized I was alive.

I think I was in New York City when I realized I was part of this random mystery called the human experience.

I think I was in New York City when my eyes caught a glimpse of the most beautiful girl. She was walking down the streets of SoHo, wearing a bubblegum pink skirt.

I think I was in New York City when I realized my scary thoughts were not all that scary. I was on The High Line when I realized my scary thoughts were nothing more than thoughts, and like the stench of the city, they would float away, replaced by the sweet smell of a distant bakery.

I was in New York City when I realized I might be the luckiest girl alive.

I knew I'd never be the same. I knew the images of skyscrapers and foreign faces would forever remain embedded in my mind, and I knew no one could take that away from me.
